After studying at the Frosinone Conservatory, he played in the RAI (Italian Radio and Television) orchestra for jazz concerts and film soundtrack recordings.<\/p>\n<p>In 1979, he played and recorded with Chet Baker. This was a pivotal encounter. He accompanied the trumpeter for nine years, touring extensively in Europe and Japan, and recording numerous albums.<\/p>\n<p>In the early 1980s, he moved to Paris. He became the regular bassist for Johnny Griffin, Barney Wilen, and Bob Brookmeyer. After Chet Baker&#8217;s death in 1988, Riccardo dedicated his album *A Sip of Your Touch* to him.
